At SEED, we believe that programs initiated for Skill Development should create individuals who become competent enough to compete in the markets for the skills they possess. This is a feat that can only be achieved if training involves an adequate balance of theoretical knowledge and practical experience in order to master the trade. Our programs in our project areas include training in trades like electrical, computer, welding, automobile, among a wide variety of others. Keeping with this idea of a holistic training structure, students are also encouraged to take of extra classes, tests, Olympiads and practical submissions.
On the 2nd Anniversary of Skill India Mission and World Skill Mission , students of our training centers in Chhattisgarh were encouraged to take the “Chattisgarh Skill Olympiad” on Saturday, July 8, 2017. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Raman Singh, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh and Mr. Prem Prakash Pandey, BJP MLA from Bhilai Nagar. Out of all students who participated in this Olympiad, two youths performed extremely well who were undertaking Skill Development Training under ACC Skill Development Initiative in Jamul.
Locals Sandeep and Govind had gained practical exposure in the trade of Welding in our centers. The two ranked second and third respectively in the Olympiad. Their excellent performance received a lot of acclaim and both received Special Prize money from Dr. Raman Singh Chief Minister, Chattisgarh. Sandeep, who came second, received a prize money cheque worth rupees 20,000 while Govind, who came third, received a prize money cheque worth rupees 15,000. The generous amount of prize money will allow for these two students to pursue their careers further and be helpful to their families. They were both extremely thankful to have joined and been trained at our center that helped and encouraged them to perform so well.
Such a performance by the students of our training center shows the success of the training being conducted at the centers, where students are motivated to go beyond what is being taught in class. This ensures continuous success on the endeavor towards Skill Development by SEED.
