Describing the Swachh Bharat Mission — a mission initiated 3 year back by our prime Minister Narendra Modi has seen an extreme reprove – being a social movement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi underlined that just as Swaraj was achieved by satyagrahis, cleanliness would become a reality through “swachhagrahis” (those who work for cleanliness).

In the same honour DHFL along with Seed CSR initiated a cleanliness drive at Skill Development Centre in Kolhapur, Chandarpur and Kagal Maharashtra. The Cleanliness Drive was organized in the 3 areas where youths and students come forward and supported this activity.

All the participants paid tribute to Gandhi Ji and started the event by organizing a rally with banners conveying messages of healthy and clean environment. The students enthusiastically participated in cleaning drive and planned to clean the surroundings of the hospital and markets. Seeing the active role of the participants in cleaning the surroundings, the Assistant Superintendent of Police join the event which boosted the confidence of the participants and admired the work they have been doing in making the community cleaner and greener

Trainees zealously promoted the event and conducted door to door campaign, street plays, sang songs and made the community aware on the importance of hygienic environment. Further, the center’s staff and students took the initiative of cleaning the surroundings such as sadar bazaar, which is one of the filthy places in the locality. They conducted a street play for creating awareness about cleanliness and plastic collecting drive in the area and its vicinity. Volunteers also joined the event and promoted the idea of Swachh Bharat and visited each household in the locality.

The event ended by a speech given by the center manager, i.e., Mr. Prashant Pandey on the importance of Clean India. He thanked the community members and participants for their support in making the event successful. All the participants were given refreshments during the event. Total 140 trainees participated in the event to make the drive successful.

In Kagal, 60 trainees participated in the cleanliness campaign organized by CoE. The campaign addressed the issues of public sanitation conditions, lack of awareness in the public about personal hygiene and littering of garbage at public places. To convey the message on the importance of cleaning, a play was conducted. Through the play, trainees conveyed different methods for the prevention from Dengue and Malaria. A cleanliness drive was conducted in the nearby areas of the centre. The program was concluded by distributing refreshment to the participants.
