Romira Roy
Romira Roy
Co Foundr & Executive Director

Romira Roy is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of SEED.While the vision of creating a platform for enabling businesses to achieve incremental growth with responsibility towards the society was mutual between Romira and husband Anirban, this was Romira who took charge to ultimately provide contours to the thought. Reticent yet extremely open to ideas and feed-back, Romira is literally the back-bone of SEED, providing the necessary support to its entire frame-work.
Graduating in Sociology (Honours) from Jesus & Mary College, University of Delhi in the year 2000, Romira went on to pursue her MBA from IMI in 2003 with specialization in Human Resources, Regional Development and Marketing.
Her industry exposure started with North Delhi Power Limited (NDPL) – a JV between TATA Power & the Delhi Govt. which overtook the operations of erstwhile Delhi Vidyut Board in North Delhi. Her 1-year tenure with NDPL involved mapping, managing, co-ordinating and developing soft skills / other trainings across the organization. It was years later however when Romira would realize that this last role & responsibility was actually the source of her journey in assisting clients balance business ambitions with social conscience.
In June 2004, she joined Youth Reach, a Delhi based NGO partnering with 39 children and women’s organizations across India to impart education and training for vulnerable youth, girl child and women. The quest for a more equitable society had got stronger by now. In January 2006, Romira got the opportunity to pursue her mission through a larger platform when she joined ‘Bharatiya Yuva Shakti Trust (BYST)’, which is a non-profit organisation supported by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). From extending simple altruistic support, BYST allowed her to the next logical progression of assisting the disadvantaged and vulnerable youth to develop income generation skills for creating employment and self-employment opportunities.
However, by this time the quest for societal welfare was at its pinnacle and fuelled by a shared vision, SEED was born in the same year. While the social paradigm was the dominating factor behind the formation of SEED, both Romira & Anirban acknowledged that profitability and growth are integral to any business and the successful amalgamation of both these virtues is the essence of what SEED is all about and nationally recognized for. While the strategic involvement for all organization affairs is naturally there, Romira’s key area of focus is people management.
